1. "This is that rare conference postseason that we’ll remember years from now, about the time KU came up lame in the semifinal that would’ve given us Border War III, and about the year Mizzou won the last Big 12 game it ever played. This whole season has become about hatred and hurt feelings and exit fees, about college kids somehow carrying the baggage of the adults in charge, every sensitivity on every side amplified and you know what? We’re missing a heck of a show."

  2. Ross from Charged.fm asked me a few questions ahead of Selection Sunday. Here’s the money shot:
“CHARGED: What team has the best shot of upending Kentucky and how will they do it?

EA: I just spent some time looking at every standard and tempo-free metric I could get my hands on, looking for something I could call out as a Kentucky weak point, and I didn’t find any. Of course, I’ve said that about other teams before – last year’s Ohio State squad, for one – and been wrong. If I have to write a perscription for beating the Wildcats, I’d say it keys on disrupting and flustering point guard Marquis Teague, if that’s at all possible. Maybe a swarming team like Missouri or the stellar individual defense of a guy like OSU’s Aaron Craft would do the trick. I can’t seriously talk myself into either one of them, but that’s how I picture it going down if it does.”

Missouri fans might learn to hate, say, Kentucky. But trust me, Kentucky fans won’t deign to hate you back.

So Kansas, I urge you to bury your anger and do the right thing. Play one game a year in Kansas City. Play it on campuses. Play it wherever.

There’s not a lot out there these days to convince people that college athletics is little more than the back-stabbing antithesis of collegiality. You can change that. You can be the bigger university.

    Think about that.

You can be the bigger university.

Wouldn’t that be a helluva thing to laud over your most hated rival?

    Sincerely,
    Dana O’Neil
