  3. Assist Tracker: Dec. 28 | Big Apple Buckets

Halil Kanacevic (F, St. Joseph’s) – This isn’t the first time that the Hawks’ big man has showed up on the assist tracker. It’s obvious that he’s got a knack for passing that most 6’8″ guys just don’t. Right now Kanacevic leads the team in rebounding and is second in assists. That’s a nice combination.”

  4. Top defensive players in college basketball in 2011-12 - CBB - ESPN

Fran Fraschilla’s list of top defenders in the college game contains plenty of familiar names: Aaron Craft, Jorge Gutierrez, John Henson, etc. As an ODU grad, I was glad to see Kent Bazemore get his due. There were a few surprises, however, and that’s where Fraschilla earns his Insider bread. Here’s a guy I didn’t know ANYTHING about prior to reading this:

    C.J. Aiken, Saint Joseph’s

The 6-9 sophomore from the Philly suburbs may have the best shot-blocking instincts in the country; he blocked almost 14 percent of opponents’ shots last season. Not surprisingly, he has great instincts, timing and a quick jumper. If there is a hoops resurgence this season on Hawk Hill, Aiken will be a big reason why.”
