I get what Joe’s saying here, but I don’t see a guy with this many high-TO games getting the nod.
“Taylor only has three games this season where he has committed more than five turnovers (11 vs. Duke, 7 vs. Ohio State, and 8 vs. Kansas State). If you take away those games, he is averaging 2.88 turnovers per game (compared to 3.75 with those additional turnovers factored in). Do you think Kansas fans would be complaining about Taylor if he had 49 turnovers through 17 games rather than 75 through 20? Exactly.”

Kansas Jayhawks' Tyshawn Taylor out 3 weeks with torn meniscus, sprained MCL - ESPN
I’ve been tough on Tyshawn Taylor, but for this to happen in a game in which he dished out 13 assists is cruel, and will hurt Kansas. Kudos to Tyshawn for gutting out the pain in a big win for his team.
“LAWRENCE, Kan. — No. 13 Kansas will be without starting guard Tyshawn Taylor for about three weeks after he tore the meniscus and sprained the MCL in his right knee.
Jayhawks coach Bill Self disclosed the injury after their 78-67 win over second-ranked Ohio State on Saturday. Taylor played despite the injury, which he sustained in practice early in the week, and finished with nine points and a career-high 13 assists in 35 minutes.”

Kansas suspends key players for exhibitions - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN
Sometimes I feel like I’m just playing around in my backyard here. Good to keep in mind that Eamonn is watching:
Speaking of which, as STF’s Eric Angevine quips here, it would appear Taylor is just one of those guys that can’t stay out of trouble, however minor that trouble may be. This is merely the latest chapter in a long history of questionable behavioral choices by the guard, and it’s especially discouraging because a) Johnson, a crucial junior sharpshooter, was also somehow involved and b) Taylor is one of the team’s few truly experienced veterans. Simply put, Taylor must be excellent for Kansas to achieve its usual success this season. If he isn’t — if he just never gets it — then any optimistic expectations for this team will be just that: optimistic.
I grew up in Lawrence, KS, and KU basketball was my entree into the love of college hoops. What we’re looking at here is the likely KU starting backcourt.
Taylor was considered a pro prospect who might jump to the NBA after his sophomore season, but he is consistently driving his own potential career into the ground. It’s not like he’s a prolific scorer or a natural point guard, so that was already two strikes against him. Can’t act right for a single season out of four? That’s strike three. Ask Josh Selby how much he liked falling into the second round. Or, better yet, ask Tyrel Reed, a model citizen born without Taylor’s physical gifts, how much he enjoys playing for something called VOO Verviers-Pepinster in Belgium.

Kansas Jayhawks suspend Tyshawn Taylor, Elijah Johnson for exhibitions - ESPN
That’s it. I’m officially at rock bottom on my expectations for Tyshawn Taylor. He just doesn’t seem to get it.
LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas guards Tyshawn Taylor and Elijah Johnson have been suspended for violating team rules and will miss both of the No. 13 Jayhawks’ exhibition games.
Nice of him to take Johnson under his wing like that, too.
