It's court-storming season in college basketball, so Page 2 offers a primer - ESPN
People always think I’m going to be mad when someone else writes about floor storming. That would require an extraordinary amount of hubris on my part, since I didn’t create the concept, and don’t think writing about it was some flash of god-like brilliance I had. Sure, I wouldn’t mind getting a shout-out on my pioneering academic efforts at the Storming the Floor University Institute of Celebratory Studies from way back in 2006, but I know it’s unlikely.
Anyway, here’s an amusing take on the practice by ESPN’s DJ Gallo:
“Be a student. Storming the court is for current students only. If you are out of college and storm the court, realize you are basically the creepy guy who still cruises past his old high school in his Trans-Am … the next time you cruise past your old high school in your Trans-Am.”

This blog was started by Marco Anskis (left) in 2007. He asked me and my nostrils (right) to come aboard and help out even though we hadn’t met - we just liked each other’s hoops writing.
As I was trying to clear out some old photos to free up space on my laptop, I came across this photo from the road trip I took to Philly to meet Marco that first year. We went to the Palestra shortly after Thanksgiving to take in the first Philly Classic tournament.
Marco left the blog to become head SID at Swarthmore (or, SW Arthmore, if you prefer), and I’ve been scraping along without him for a couple of years now. I still feel like it’s not nearly as good as it was when we were a team, but I appreciate everyone who sticks with me. Anyway, here’s to basketball road trips, beautiful vintage arenas, and Marco! /drinks
